FirstClass Archive Services is an important addition to any organization's messaging solution. It addresses regulatory compliance requirements by providing comprehensive archiving, retention, and searching capabilities of all FirstClass messages in and out of the mailbox. This can also include conferencing and dropbox solutions, as well as calendaring soluitons. The FirstClass Archiving solution has been running solid and the organizations running it have been very happy with it.

I recommend for you to check the Archive Server drive to make sure its growth is normal. Too much, points to abuse on your system or a breech of your policy. You also want to make sure you have a safe amount of space available on the drive. I also highly recommend to check every now and then to make sure the Archive Server is running and the gateway between the serves is fully functional.  The best way to do this is to check the history of any message that should be archived. In the history you will find a time/date stamp for when it is Archived. (see the screen shot below) If there is a stamp on a message then it has reached the archive server, if not then it may be qued up and waiting for the gateway. This week working with one of our schools i have built a new solution that will notify your tech department if this unlikely event occurred. If you are interested in this solution or if you have any questions please let me know. All of our RA customers that have a contract with us will find this new custom solution built on their servers this next week. This services is free and included in our yearly RA Contract.

The Archive Server is a useful and required solution for most of my customers. They love it. If you are not yet running the Archive Server contact me. We can set up a demo server at your site (even get you free licenses for your key staff). Looking at this free option there really is no reason not to be running the Archive Server.
